Newent U12's game v Malvern RFC
U12's RUGBY REPORT
u12s Newent v Malvern
A barrage of referee baiting, from one Malvern supporter in particular, marred the enjoyment of an otherwise excellent game. Fortunately this poor sportsmanship did not transfer itself to the boys, who all played their hearts out, in a spirited affair.
The kick-off saw Newent's talented pack take control which produced tries for forwards LIAM LUSTY & KIERAN KNIGHT, converted by TOM WEBB. Malvern also posted a converted try.
In the second half Newent's classy backs scored tries through GEORGE HUMPHRIS & SHANE BROWN. Following the departure of TOM WEBB with a serious shoulder injury the kicking duties were taken over by SHANE BROWN & FINDLAY YOUNG. At 26-7 to Newent the match looked won but then the effects of a team sleep-over the night before, took it's toll which enabled Malvern to close the gap. The moral of the story: no more sleep-overs before a match!
